The Piani dei Resinelli, a tourist destination at an altitude of 1,300 meters and a renowned rock-climbing area just a few kilometers from Milan, lie at the foot of the Grigne massif and offer an incomparable view ranging from the Rhaetian Alps to Monte Rosa, overlooking the plain below, Lake Como, and the Upper Brianza lakes.
This project transforms a plain, rather anonymous single-family home from the 1960s into a contemporary residence by reimagining both the interior layout and the building’s exterior character. Upstairs, the new design offers a bright, open-plan living area seamlessly connected to the converted into a self-contained two-room apartment. Large white window frames, red shutters, dark
grey plaster, and subtle presence of
wood create a striking visual contrast, recalling certain features of Alpine architecture. Brushed larch is used throughout the house’s interiors and was also employed to clad the recessed areas of the entrance and terraces, creating a continuous dialogue between inside and out. The building is rated in energy class A4 and is equipped with a nearly 9 kW photovoltaic system, a rainwater cistern, and biomass heating.
